Rose of Jericho Flower - XL
Rose of Jericho Flower - XL
Rose of Jericho is a name given to two different plants. Anastatica heirochuntica is the more rare, "true Rose of Jericho", and is native to Western Asia and the Middle East. Selaginella lepidophylla is known as "false Rose of Jericho" and is native to Mexico and South America. The latter is much more common, and is often used as an attractive houseplant. Both are used acceptably as Ressurection Flowers.
Rose of Jericho is known as the "Resurrection flower" because the plant seems to come to life after dying. In their natural dry habitats, the plant dries, withers, and blows away until it finds a new source of water.
The water is used in many practices such as Catholicism , Hoodoo, Santeria, and Islam.
